Ortega

The Ortega Method consists of 3 steps:

Step 1: Make one face with of the same colour regardless of permutation. (Intuitive)

Step 2: Orientate the Last Layer. (7 cases)

Step 3: Permutate both layers at the same time. (5 cases)

With this method you should at least be able to reach averages of 5 seconds or less.

Step 1:

This step is done intuitively, similar to the way you do the first layer on the 3x3x3.  Here you try to form one face with the same colour regardless of its permutation. Try took look around the cube for same colours that are already adjacent to each other to limit the step count. Work towards being colour neutral for any 2x2x2 solves so get familiar with the colour scheme on your cube (opposite colours especially)

Step 2:

Orientation of  the Last Layer

- R2U2R'U2R2
- R'FR2U'R2FR
- F RUR'U'F'
- F'RUR'U'L'UL

Step 3:

Permutations of two layers at the same time. The bottem layer is refered to as if you did x2 on the cube.
